2015 Napa Valley Rosé of Pinot Noir

This pale coral-colored rose was made from a sparkling wine clone of Pinot Noir from the organically farmed Yount Mill Vineyard in Napa Valley. Selected for bright fresh flavors the fruit was picked very early in its ripening period to retain all of its natural zesty, refreshing verve and bright flavors. Like every vintage of Castrucci rose’ it is crisp and refreshing, like a crunchy nectarine straight out of the ice box. The fresh cherry and raspberry aromas draw you in, but then you are surprised by the flavors of snow-melt with a squeeze of citrus. As always the finish is mouth-watering and very clean, perfect for a humid summer day.

2014 Napa Valley Estate Chardonnay

Lifted aromas of lemon oil, lemon curd, and fresh baked shortbread carry through to refreshing and juicy apply/pear flavor on the palate. It is clean and refreshing, with a gentle bitter almond/marzipan finish which is characteristic of the vineyard.

2014 Napa Valley Reserve Chardonnay

The nose on this long-barrel aged Castrucci chardonnay shows lifted notes of citrus, creme brûlée, and white smoke. Feather-light on the palate, it hints at sweet candied citrus peel but finishes with a refreshing bitter saltiness. This is a wine for delicate foods, like Petrale Sole, oysters, or quiche.

2014 Napa Valley Pinot Noir

This is a feminine Pinot Noir, but striking and strong, not at all meek. There are intense aromas of wild blueberries and cassis with a hint of fresh tarragon. The wine moves across the palate like silk, but has a firm structure at the end that will complement a wide range of food and lend a long aging potential. The wine truly represents the rocky volcanic soil and the foggy weather of the San Pablo Bay.

2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

“Dead Fred Vineyard” Coombsville fruit. At 13.4% alcohol, this is definitively a “restrained & elegant” Cabernet. No apologies made as it’s aromatic, ethereal, complex, unique and so very food-friendly. Smell and taste red & black currants, fresh blueberries, camphor, Earl Grey tea, fennel, rosemary. Medium acidity, smooth tannins.

2013 Napa Valley Estate Chardonnay

Fruity/nutty aromas of white peach, pineapple, lemon oil, and hazelnuts are balanced by a haunting stony minerality that carries all the way through to the finish. It is a voluptuous wine--it is Chardonnay after all--but it is never heavy, instead clean and refreshing, with mouthwatering acidity. The bitter almond/marzipan finish leaves you wanting more.

2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The deep amid layered aromas of the 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon evolve in the glass form the ripe cherries, blackberries and raspberries to rich loamy soil, dried herbs, flowers and minty forest characters, and then back to fresh red fruits. The fine grained mouth watering tannins beg for delicious food, with a long but very clean finish.
